Orange County Catering – An All Organic Engagement Party
Eco Caters did an all organic engagement party in Orange County on November 28th. The bride and groom are very eco conscious which is why they preferred an eco friendly company catering their party. The party consisted of stationary hors d’oeuvres that included: Chef’s choice cheese display with market fruit and preserves; Mezze platter with hummus, baba ganouj, roasted red peppers, olive salad, and fresh pita. It was a plated dinner party with a beautiful mixed green salad with goat cheese, sliced almonds, goji berries, and avocado dressing. Following the salads were the main dishes that consisted of porter marinated tri tip with green peppercorn sauce; roasted coho salmon with garlic, lemon, black peppercorn and parsley; and pan sautéed polenta with carrot, celery root, and fire roasted tomatoes. For dessert the bride and groom served home made ice cream and three different pieces of cake to each guest. The bride and groom decided that it was up to their guests to decide which wedding cake they were to serve at their wedding by a people’s choice vote.
The fresh fish that we served for the engagement party came from Fishco Market. The decor was made up of very natural decorations and pictures and being aware of the environment, the bride and groom used plates from Verterra, which is dinnerware that is 100% biodegradable and compost-able made from fallen palm leaves. Being more green as well as eating organic definitely has its delicious perks when it comes to Eco Caters fresh and healthy foods. We specialize in organic catering, and would be more than happy to provide Orange County catering services that are sure to wow our clients.
For about 6 years Sid and Raquel Weiser ran Weiser Family Farms as an orchard. They grew apples, peaches and pears. It was their son Alex who got them into the world of root veggies.
While assisting at the local Farmers’ Market, Alex encountered chefs, the public and specialty produce buyers who wanted seasonal, high quality and superior tasting produce. Listening to this input, Alex began to focus on creating a bio-diverse farm dedicated to applying sustainable farming techniques. His overriding desire was to supply people with unique fruits and vegetables at their peak, rather than picked for commercial usage. Today, Weiser Family Farms grows in the Greater Bakersfield area, Tehachapi and the Lucerne Valley, cultivating a tapestry of high quality produce year round.
Weiser Family Farms is, and has always been, a family farming entity in the true sense of the word. You can count on them to put as much care and effort into serving you as they do in selecting and growing their unique, locally grown produce.
Eco Caters, an Organic Catering company, works with Chevy Volt
The Chevy Volt premiered in San Diego and Eco Caters was there to provide a taste of some of our most popular organic items. This was the very first showing of the Volt in San Diego and one of the first showings of the Volt nationwide so there was a big crowd there to see the Volt for the first time. We kept the menu simple so not to distract from the main event. We did a variety of organic breads from Charlie’s Best Bread with our fresh whipped honey butter. The breads were a big hit and that is no surprise because Charlie’s Best Bread does make the very best bread in town and it is organic. He also mills his own flour and uses local organic ingredients whenever possible. In addition to the breads we had some grilled vegetable polenta lasagna and local beef brisket. The grilled vegetable lasagna and brisket were very popular as many guests came back for a 3rd and 4th serving. With an event like the premier of the Chevy Volt, organic catering is a necessity and we are happy to be the San Diego catering company to fulfill that need. The Eco Investment Club, who put on the event, is one of our long time customers and we always look forward to catering their events because the people there are all very receptive and appreciative of organic catering. Suzie’s Farm provided the vegetables for the lasagna so I asked them to set up a farmer’s market booth at the event to tell people about their CSA and they were very happy to do so.
During the event we did get a chance to sit in the Chevy Volt and check it out up close. I have to say that I am very impressed with the design and the efficiency. It is a very sleek looking vehicle and it is all electric for the first 50 miles of every drive! At Eco Caters our San Diego catering division will certainly continue to grow with partners like Chevy and the Eco Investment Club. We hope that more events like this are thrown in San Diego and that the demand for local organics continues to grow.
Five Gates Center Grand Opening in Venice – Organic Catering
Eco Caters did an organic catering event in Venice for the Five Gates Grand opening; The Science of the Healing Spirit. The view was beautiful as was the weather and guest enjoyed the all delicious organic food. First we set up stationary hors d’oeuvres that included many delicious foods such as a mezze platter with hummus, baba ganouj, roasted red peppers, olives salad, and fresh pita; Southern lollypops with homemade buttermilk ranch; and spicy chicken skewers with majoram. There were also Kosher hors d’oeuvres that consisted of vegetable turrine; simosa with coconut marjoram dip; and seared ahi on wonton with napa cabbage. Of course these were only a few, the buffet consisted of much more. Those fine hors d’oeurves were just the beginning of this delicious Los Angeles catering event. Next were a selection of the freshest and most seasonal salads that our guests raved about for hours. Some may thing it is hard to impress with salad, but we selecting our greens we make sure they are the freshest you can get. We ensure this by shopping at local farms for all or our organic catering needs. Venice catering has become very popular for us as the demand for organic is growing in the Los Angeles catering community. The guests attending the event were happy and full as they enjoyed the rest of the night with laughter and conversation.
All of the event photography was done by Kari Storch, You can check out more pictures from The Five Gates Center Grand Opening at the link listed below.

All Organic Catering- Pasadena Catering
Organic catering is Eco Caters specialty and at the wedding of Vicky and Mike on October 17th, 2009 we were able to showcase our many skills. It was held at the beautiful Japanese American Museum in Pasadena. The décor was exquisite, the colorful lanterns hanging from the walls was a perfect complement to the rest of the museum. Once the beautiful ceremony was completely, stationary hors d’oeuvres were set up in the courtyard. There was a chef’s choice cheese display with market fruit and preserves and vegetable crudités with roasted onion dip and house ranch.
While the bride and groom enjoyed conversation with their guests before dinner, more hors d’oeuvres were being tray passed. Those startes consisted of roasted chicken with avocado, sweet corn, and fermented black beans; grilled shrimp with mojo and pineapple; and asparagus with crispy jamon. The truffile grilled cheese seemed to be the favorite of all the appetizers, as guests were reaching for their second and thirds.
Organic catering can definitely impress those taste buds that have never had the pleasure of really exploring what local fresh ingredients can taste like. For dinner we served a stellar salad mix with pumpkin seed, shaved purple onion, tomato, and sweet pepper vinaigrette. The guests’ then had the\ choice between ancho crusted ribeye served with golden beets, horseradish, and chive; herb crusted chicken breast with truffled potato and grilled squash; and the vegetarian option, spaghetti squash with portobella chimmichurri. Although some guest were skeptical about an all organic wedding, after getting a taste of what Eco Caters had to offer, people were very pleased and many asked for business cards.
Apple pie is a favorite dessert of both the bride and groom, so after dinner warmed apple pie was served to all guests that chose to enjoy something sweet after a filling meal. The event photographer Rob Greer took many beautiful artistic pictures which can found on his website http://www.robgreerweddings.com/blog/. The wedding came to a conclusion with all guests dancing the night away, and a very satisfied bride and groom. Eco Caters has been doing Pasadena Catering since they opened in 2007 and this was a very nice event.
San Diego Wedding Catering company, Eco Caters provides organic hors d’oeuvres for a Bridal Shower
San Diego Wedding catering has become a specialty of ours and we are very excited to be one of San Diego’s premier wedding caterers. With all the weddings for which we provide organic catering we don’t often cater Bridal Showers, so we were very pleased to cater a bridal shower in Poway at a private residence on Saturday.
The menu was heavy stationary hors d’oeuvres with a salad and side dish, perfect for a bridal shower, or any party wanting to serve a light meal. The organic menu included our Mezze Platter with Hummus Trio, Roasted Red Peppers, Olives Salad, and Fresh Pita, Farmers and a Market Fruit Display with Local Honey. The host added in our yummy Mixed Sliders including; our vegetarian Grilled Portabella with Mint Chimmi Churri, an Apricot Turkey Slider with Apple, Arugula, and House Mustard, and our Smoked Salmon with Olivade and Sauce Grabiche. The girls feasted on a salad of Mixed Greens with Goat Cheese, Sliced Almonds, 9 Grain Croutons, Goji Berries, and Avocado Dressing, with a side of Wild Mushroom Quinoa.
For dessert the bride-to-be and her lovely lady friends had Chocolate Molten Cake with Crème Anglais. They were all very pleased with the food and excited about the fact that it was all organic catering. We don’t often travel out to do catering in Poway but we are hoping to get more events in that area.
With all of the demand for organic catering for weddings in San Diego I think we should see more Bridal Showers going green and hopefully we will be there to fulfill that need. We look forward to catering more events in Poway and through San Diego during this holiday season and into 2010.
Eco Caters Cater launch of LEED certified Office Building in Ocean Beach
Eco Caters provided organic hors d’oeuvres for the launch of Architects HGW’s brand new office building which was build of all recycled materials and was awarded a LEED certification for their green building and design of the office. Needless to say organic food was a must for this event and we were very glad to be the organic caterer to provide it. The event was sponsored by SDG&E because of their dedication to sustainability in Southern California they reward businesses that help reduce the demand for electricity. Architects HGW designed the place themselves and it is now one of many buildings in which they have designed green. This is not the first green building launch we have catered and we certainly hope to see more of these events in the future. The menu consisted of some of our favorite organic hors d’oeuvres including a chefs choice cheese display with market fruit, vegetables crudite with roasted onion dip and vegan coconut ranch and a mezze platter with hummus trio, tabouleh salad, olive medley and fresh pita. Everyone enjoyed the organic catering very much and was very happy to sit back and relax after all their hard work on the building and the recent move. If you would like more info about Architects HGW you can visit their website at http://www.architects-hgw.com/.
As more and more green building projects like this are underway we hope to be the organic caterer of choice in San Diego, Los Angeles, Orange County and throughout Southern California. Ocean Beach, which is the location of the Eco Caters San Diego kitchen, is a place in particular that we would love to see more demand for organic catering. Ocean Beach catering has not yet been a big market for us but we hope to do more organic catering in this area as it is very conveniently located.
