Specialty Produce distributes produce throughout San Diego County and beyond.  They offer all types of fresh produce and sell directly to many restaurants and catering companies.  Whenever we cannot find produce straight from the farm we go to Specialty.  We especially like their Farmers Market Program, which brings fresh fruits and veggies down from the Wednesday Farmers Market in Santa Monica to San Diego.  We often get stuff from Wiser Farms, Beylik Farms among others through this program.  We can also source certified organic produce for certain items with Specialty Produce.  You can actually go to their warehouse and buy consumer direct.  Learn more about this and more at their website, www.specialtyproduce.com.

This April San Diego Catering company Eco Caters  helped a vegan bride celebrate with a vegan fiesta!

Held in the beautiful Seagrove Park, Del Mar.  San Diego caterer, Eco Caters, provided a vegan fiesta starting with some spicy Hors D’Oeuvres including: a Salsa Trio and Guacamole with Chips, minced Mushrooms with Cumin and delicious vegan Mexican pies with a fresh Cilantro dip. The guest sipped on fresh squeezed Lemonade, Red Wine Sangria and a refreshing muddled herb spritzer with Basil, Cilantro and Mint. A “Best of Market” Green Salad was then devoured with a light house vinaigrette. For the main meal San Diego Caterer, Eco Caters put together a vegan feast of Jalepeno Black Beans, Cilantro Rice, Grilled Seasonal Veggies with Portobello Mushrooms, with Flour Tortillas.

The menu was heavily  inspired by the couples love of Mexican food. We really enjoy working with couples who have strong desires and long wish list. We can create a custom menu for almost ever kind of cuisine. Spanish tapas, an island cocktail party, meditraian inpired dished, or even an Asian feast. Eco Caters will work with you on what your dream wedding meal.

San Diego Catering company Eco Caters simply loved Seagrove Park in Del Mar, it  is a great place to hold an outdoor wedding. It has great views of the ocean, soft grass underfoot and the most romantic sunsets. This is a popular spot for weddings and gatherings. Seagrove Park is also a great place to picnic, particulary on the lawn at the parks edge, overlooking the ocean. Seagrove Park sits on the edge of a bluff at the end of 15th Street, which overlooks Del Mar City Beach. It’s not uncommon for dolphins to appear beyond the shore break at Seagrove Park. The reef makes beach a popular spot for surfers.

Eco Caters San Diego Catering Division Serves Organic Cuisine at Private Home Wedding in Del Mar

Although we had rough weather all week it cleared up and turned out to be a perfect day for this beautiful wedding in Del Mar.  Eco Caters provided all organic food to the friends and family of the bride and groom on this unbelievable April evening.  The ceremony was held in the back yard and then everyone moved to the front for a drink and some organic hors d’oeuvres.  We started off with stationary hors d’oeuvres during the cocktail hour which included a Chef’s Choice Cheese Display with Market Fruit and Preserves (pictured above), Antipasto with Marinated Artichoke, Sweet Peppers with Arugula, Marinated Cherry Tomato with Mozzarella, and Mixed Olives and a mixed slider platter boasting Curry Chicken Salad with California Golden Raisins, Muffoletta with Olive Salad and Provolone (pictured above), and Grilled Eggplant with Tomato, Arugula, and Marjoram Aioli.  During the cocktail hour the photographer was snapping photos of the guests and our food (all pictures above) which all came out very nice.  They can be found at www.barnettphoto.com.  After about 1 hour of mingling the guests moved back to the back yard where the set up had been transformed by the Eco Caters staff and ready for the dinner buffet.  As guests sat down we brought them a plated salad which consisted of Organic Mixed Greens with Goat Cheese, Sliced Almonds, 9 Grain Croutons, Goji Berries, and Avocado Dressing.  The heartfelt toasts ended as we opened up the buffet which people were very excited about.  The chafers were nicely filled with Rosemary Marjoram Chicken Breast finished with a Wild Mushroom Sauce, Pan Seared Rockfish with Cali-Crystal Beurre Blanc, Wild Mushroom Quinoa and Grilled Farmers Market Vegetables.  We also put out fresh baked organic french bread and honey whipped butter with dinner.  All of the produce was bought from local organic farms, much of which came from Suzie’s Farm in San Diego.  The seafood was sustainably caught by Catalina Offshore and the chicken organic free range from Northern California.

After dinner guests continued to mingle around enjoying each others company and some dessert with Eco Caters organic fair trade coffee and tea service.  The dessert was a spread of different options made by the mother of the bride and friends.  The bride and groom actually came out from the east coast and picked Eco Caters San Diego Catering division specifically because we serve organic cuisine.  We could tell that they had a knack for organic food as well when we saw the organic vegetable and herb garden in the side yard.  It is always great to serve fresh organic cuisine in a lovely setting to people who truly appreciate it.  We look forward to more Del Mar catering events and weddings, especially the ones with a view of the ocean!

Organic Catering Company feeds hundreds at the Carlsbad 5000

Eco Caters put together a meal to help the runners push through the “ Fastest 5k.” The Organic Catering company put together a filling continental breakfast of Mixed Pastries, Muffins, Danishes, Assorted Bagels with Cream Cheese and Honey Whipped Butter, and  a Fresh Fruit Platter. After the race the participants were treated to an all organic lunch; catered by San Diego caterer, Eco Caters,  of our Farmers Market Salad including, “Best of the Market” greens and vegetables with a house vinaigrette dressing, and filling sandwiches, including: Grilled Free Range Chicken Breast on Ciabatta with Sun-dried Tomato, Onion, Basil Pesto Mayo, and Spinach, a vegetarian Grilled Portabella Mushroom on a French Roll with Grilled Red Pepper Aioli, Creole Mustard, and Herb Mix, and Grilled Organic Sirloin on Ciabatta with Caramelized Onion, Tomato, Fresh Herb Mustard, and Mixed Greens. The Carlsbad Catering team helped them finish off their meal of champions with Fruit, Cookies, and Brownies.

Since 1986, tens of thousands of runners and walkers have come to the Village of Carlsbad to run along the flat 3.1 mile course, whisking by the Pacific Ocean before turning down Carlsbad Village Drive for a downhill race to the finish with thousands of spectators cheering you on. The 5K distance may have given way to the more popular marathon and half marathon endurance events in the past ten years, but don’t let that fool you, the Carlsbad 5000 is still the World’s Fastest 5K, and site of the legendary post-race Party by the Sea! The Carlsbad 5000 is called “The Fastest 5k” because it is a super quick, flat course. To this day it holds 16 world records! This inspirational photo was taken at the race by Ollie Neglerio. Congratulations to all the athletes from San Diego caterer, Eco Caters!

San Diego Catering Company Serves at the Thursday Club

La Jolla Catering company, Eco Caters filled the Thursday Club, in San Diego with some amazing food April 3rd. It all started with a stunning presentation of a of Chef’s Choice Cheese Display with Market Fruit and Preserves, Mezze Platter with Hummus Trio, Tabouleh, Olives Salad, and Fresh Pita. Guest then grazed on our signature “Best of Market” veggies and greens, served with a house made vinaigrette. San Diego caterer, Eco Caters then served up a mix of both Blackened  Mahi Mahi burritos and Veggie Black Bean and Rice burritos, all accompanied by Grilled Farmers Market Vegetables and Sesame green Beans. San Diego caterer, Eco Caters, thought it was very “Cali” of the couple to serve fish burritos at their wedding. We would suggest any couple doing throwing a destination wedding, or a wedding with a lot of out of towner’s, to have a local favorite as one of their choices. Many people who come to weddings don’t get the chance to try the local resturant or a favorite dish while visiting. By giving them this at your wedding, it creates a truly memorable and special event.

The Thursday Club of San Diego was founded in 1921 to promote social, educational, cultural, and civic activities. In 1927, the Club received a deed of property in the Sunset Cliffs area from Mr. R. E. Mills of the Pantages-Mills-Shreve Company. Ground was broken for a clubhouse that year, and in 1928, the project was completed. Today, the Clubhouse is renowned as a beautiful San Diego landmark. Just wait until you see the pictures from this wedding, the brides dress is just as unique as the San Diego Catering that went with the wedding!

Thank you to Bauman Photographers for the awesome images. For the many that have asked the brides dress is from wai-ching, and makes a real statement.

Fifth generation farmer Chris Cadwell took over his family’s remaining undeveloped fourteen acres of hillside property overlooking the Pacific Ocean’s Channel Islands in Carpinteria, California. No Cadwell had ever had the desire to work the steep piece of property until Chris, and his family began cultivating it for organic garlic.

The name Tutti Frutti is Italian for “All Fruits.” The Cadwell family has been growing organic produce for Southern California since 1988. Their produce is sold at many local grocery stores and served in amazing restaurants. To find out more about Tutti Frutti farms go to www.tuttifruttifarms.com

Eco Caters loves Sage Mountain Farm, not just for their savory Sage Candy Onions, but for their dedication to educate people on sustainable and organic foods.
