Smog Shoppe Wedding

Combining our all-organic Los Angeles wedding catering with the sustainable Smog Shoppe venue, is the simplest way to have a complete environmentally conscious wedding.

Our Los Angeles wedding catering company caters weddings all over the Los Angeles and San Diego area, but when the wedding we cater is literally right across the street from our office, it couldn’t be easier.  We’re big fans of The Smog Shoppe venue and our location makes catering the venue a breeze.  The second time we met our lovely clients Stacy and Eric, they had already picked us as they’re Los Angeles wedding caterer for their special day, but still hadn’t found their venue yet.  So, Michelle and Dana walked them across the street and watched them fall in love with the Smog Shoppe.

Now, I know when you tell someone that you got “hitched” at an old mechanic’s shop, you might sound like the least romantic person on earth, but you would be mistaken my friend.  From the street the Smog Shoppe looks like your typical, rundown mechanic’s shop (but its designed that way!!!).  Behind its faded walls, is an urban oasis.  This fully restored mechanics shop was remodeled with sustainability in mind, and finished off with a modern touch.  Two thirds of the roof is removed which allows for sunlight and one killer urban garden complete with a water fountain constructed of an old oil bath.  Its roomy and open feel compliments weddings well and you actually forget that they used to fix flat tires here.  Couples have plenty of room to host their ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dance, making the Smog Shoppe a true, “one-stop-shop.”

The couple dressed in classic wedding attire but with their own personal hip-hop flair.  Eric pulled off a stylish baggy-legged tuxedo accented with bright red sneakers from Vans.  His bride Stacy complimented him with a classic empire-cut dress with a simple red ribbon.  The dress did a beautiful job of showing off her figure and complimenting her tattoos.

As guests arrived at the Smog Shoppe they were treated to one of the most original guests books I’d ever come across: a blank, designer toy!   (Designer toys are collectable works of art, usually constructed of vinyl, and created by popular artists: kidrobot.com)  It’s such a creative alternative to a guest book, and what a nice keepsake to put on the shelf or mantel for years to come.

After their ceremony in the garden, our Los Angeles wedding catering company worked the open bar and sent fresh appetizers from the kitchen around for guests to nibble and taste.  Our favorite tray passed appetizers were our Truffle Grilled Cheese and our Turkey Sliders.

We grill three soft cheeses to meld a nice complex flavor and top it of by sprinkling truffle salt to add a nice richness to it.

Our Turkey Sliders are a great appetizer to tide guests over until dinner.  They’re a little hardier than your average finger food, and yummy.  We bake our sesame buns the morning of the event and fill them with organic turkey patties, sliced apple, wild arugula and a garlic aioli for a little pep.  These are the kinds of detail we pride ourselves on over other Los Angeles wedding caterers.

Guests entered into the dining area and took their seats at distressed wood tables and a fun collection of old restaurant chairs.  The couple’s red and black wedding colors were nicely detailed on each table.   Our Los Angeles wedding caterers brought out plated summer salads with wild arugula, juicy nectarines, crumbled Points Of Blue Cheese, and our favorite dressing: our own House Apple Cider Vinaigrette.

For the main course Stacy and Eric wanted their guests to try our braised beef brisket, truffle smashed potatoes, grilled in-season Farmers Market vegetables, and our creamy Gouda mac-n-cheese.  All the food we served that night was delicious but the tender braised beef brisket was a standout.  Our staff received lots of compliments on the dish, which always makes us happy.

We want to thank Stacy and Eric for choosing us as their Los Angeles wedding caterer.  We wish you two the very best and hope you enjoy your honeymoon!  Cheers!
