Lets face it, as vegans we have a lot of substitutions and restrictions to deal with when eating food. It can be disappointing at times when our favorite dishes don’t taste the way they should. It can also feel like we have a limited selection of entrée to choose from, especially when planning an event. It’s one thing to privately exercise our vegan lifestyles, but to offer a vegan-only dinner at your wedding reception or corporate party can be disappointing to those carnivore friends and family members of ours; however this has not been our experience. We have received surprisingly positive responses during our vegan catering events, and Spork Foods refreshing take on old vegan dishes has brought smiles to young and old alike. Some hadn’t even realized they were eating an all-vegan cuisine! We love that.
These delicious new vegan recipes are the brainchild of sisters Jenny Engel and Heather Goldberg. These two energetic women have been long-time vegans and cooking instructors of Spork Foods in Los Angeles. Their company goes above and beyond just crafting delicious recipes. They also teach insightful cooking classes from the beginner up to the seasoned chef, and is a great place to meet likeminded individuals. Their website is full of helpful ideas, recipes, and instructional videos to give you a “taste.”
If you’re interested in learning how to cook enjoyable food, their modern twist on vegan recipes has been preserved in an exciting new cookbook as well. ‘Spork-Fed’ (which is available for purchase on Amazon.com) is highly rated, and for good reason! Jenny and Heather do a beautiful job keeping the cooking experience fun, and the photos are inspiring to say the least. Most of all, the recipes create complex flavors and dazzling presentations for all to enjoy.

A lot of San Diego wedding caterers find vegetarian cooking to be a nuisance; they don’t feel that a vegetarian wedding can be as tasty and satisfying as one with meat, and that couldn’t be further from the truth. Eco Caters often does such a great job preparing our menus that a lot of time guests are not even aware they just at a vegetarian dinner. That’s something we love hearing.
Once couples have narrowed down their menu we encourage them to come in for a food tasting. The food tasting at our San Diego wedding caterers is a fun and filling one. Our chef will prepare your menu while the two of you enjoy a romantic tasting for two. We’ll offer wines, cocktails and beer to pare with your courses while our seasoned chef walks out of the kitchen with a fresh new dish. The day our your wedding, our staff will arrive early to properly set up our kitchen and go over your tables to make sure that each and every glass is aligned and each fork is polished. While you and your guests are enjoying the ceremony and cocktail hour, our San Diego wedding catering team is working diligently behind the scenes to make sure every piece of your menu is prepared to the highest standard, as shown here at Lanaya and Kevin’s wedding in San Diego. We make sure that every appetizer dish and every plate is detailed and arranged to perfection. And, when your friends and family taste our all-organic food for the first time, they will be impressed with the fresh flavors we use to create your dishes.
Once our San Diego Caterer team has cleared every last plate, and found every last linin napkin, and after every guest has enjoyed their cup of coffee or tea, we will check in with you and make sure that everything was satisfactory. Organic Wedding Caterer, Eco Caters, prepares fresh cuisine for newlyweds and friends.
This couple contacted us with a special request. They wanted good quality, fresh and local food, and they wanted it to be mostly vegan. San Diego Wedding caterer, Eco Caters was up to the challenge. Eco Caters has many ways of substituting foods to create amazing vegetarian or vegan meals. So good that many meat eater won’t even notice!
After the couple was wed outside along the marina at Marina Village by Ceremonies by Bethel , organic caterer, Eco Caters, provided hors d’oevres for the cocktail hour. The couple chose our ever popular Chef’s Choice Cheese Display with Market Fruit and Preserve, and Hummus Trio with Tabouli, Olive Salad, and Grilled Flatbread. Guest mingled indoors and out on this sunny San Diego day sipping our homemade lemonade and ice tea. For dinner Eco Caters served our Farmers Market Salad. This salad includes, Best of the Market greens and seasonal vegetables with a vegan house vinaigrette dressing. For the main entrée we searved California inspired Grilled Chicken Breast with Mango and Avocado, vegan Portabella Mushrooms with Chimmi Churri on a bed of Roasted Garlic Angel Hair Pasta. These items were served with sides of rich vegan Truffle Potato Puree, and vegan French Beans with Crispy Shallot. All the friends and family of the couple enjoyed it all. After cutting their cake and serving cupcakes, the couple danced into the night to the sounds of My DJs. The evening turned out beautifully with coordination by First Comes Love events.

This Rehearsal Dinner was made flawless by Family, Friends and San Diego Catering Company, Eco Caters.
We were preparing for the wedding reception meal we got a call from the groom’s mother. Her son was so impressed with our food that she wanted to use us for the rehearsal dinner as well! This was such a complement. San Diego Caterer, Eco Caters loves doing smaller more intimate meals for family, and this family was so much fun to work with!
We started the meal out with our Chef’s Choice Cheese Display with Market Fruit and Preserve, Antipasto with Marinated Artichoke, Sweet Peppers with Arugula, Marinated Cherry Tomato with Mozzarella, and Mixed Olives, and our decadent Chilled Seafood Display with Shrimp, Oysters, Clams, Mussels, Lemon Caper Aioli, and Cocktail Sauce. Guest chatted with the soon to be bride and groom and nibbles on these goodies. They then were treated to a buffet that united both families. The buffet consisted of fresh Spinach Salad with Roasted Red Peppers, Chevre, and Tomato Vinaigrette, Carolina Pulled Pork Shoulder with Cider Vinegar and Cole Slaw on Rustic Rolls, Grilled Yellowtail with Cilantro Jalapeno Oil and Grilled Scallion, Roasted Weiser Farms Potatoes with Marjoram and Thyme, and Grilled Farmers Market Vegetables. Everyone loved the food, a guest even told us our Carolina Pulled Pork was better than anything in Carolina!
This house was rented by the Groom’s parents and was a prefect spot to hold an rehearsal dinner. The linens from A Perfect Table, were champagne and sea blue, my new favorite color combination for sure. San Diego Caterer, Eco Caters helped set up the sweet centerpieces of candles, sand and shells, creating a lovely beachy feel.

This couple had a beautiful meal that started with both stationary appetizers and passed appetizers of Mezze Platter with Hummus, Baba Ganouj, Roasted Red Peppers, Hearts of Palm, Olives and Fresh Pita, Roasted Tomato and Onion Dip with Seeded Crostini, tray passed Melon Skewers with Pistachio Oil and Spanish Paprika, tray passed Grilled Asparagus with Grapefruit and Vegan Mayo, and tray passed Golden Beet Ravioli with Balsamic. Guest loved all the unique vegan food catered by San Diego Wedding catering company Eco Caters.
The vegan feast continued with an Arugula Salad with Julianne Onions, Pear Vinaigrette and Stone Fruit. The entrees of Grilled Polenta with Carrot and Celery Root Mash, Fire Roasted Tomato, and finished with Vinegar De Banyuls and Glazed Fennel, and Stuffed Peppers with Pine Nuts, Truffled Smashed Potatoes and Squash were both filling and fresh.

The wedding festivities started with Vanilla Wafers, Chef’s Choice Cheese Display with Market Fruit and Preserves, and our savory Mezze Platter with Hummus, Baba Ganouj, Roasted Red Peppers, Olives Salad, and Fresh Pita. Servers then passed spicy Samosas with Marjoram Preserve Lemon Yogurt, Truffled Grilled Cheese, and refreshing Cucumber Cups with Mango, Preserve Lemon, Chili, and Lime.
For the salad guest had Mixed Greens with Goat Cheese, Sliced Almonds, 9 Grain Croutons, Goji Berries, and Avocado Dressing, all made from scratch by San Diego caterer, Eco Caters. The main entree was a choice of Spaghetti Squash Checca with Carrot, Celery Root, and Fire Roasted Tomatoes, Grilled Vegetable Polenta Lasagna with House Made Ricotta, and Saag Dal with Spinach and Mushroom. All of these delectable dishes were served with French Beans with Crispy Shallot, Sesame Broccolini with Red Onion and California Raisins, and Dum Alu. Guest sipped on Lemonade, and Tropical Juice, both made by San Diego Caterer, Eco Caters. For dessert this cute couple had mini cupcakes and coffee, which was a perfect way to end this celebration.
