Those of us living in the San Diego area are fully aware of that iconic Junípero Serra Museum is as it gracefully sits atop the city. Having a wedding at the Junípero Serra Museum is just as iconic. Eco Caters, your organic San Diego wedding caterers brought this location and the wedding party of Yzzer & Doreen to the table, with some amazing seasonal dishes, and a little love.
Our team was honored to be Yzzer & Doreen’s San Diego wedding caterer, and excited to see all the couples just like them who are passionate about organic food and sustainable practices. We here at Eco Caters go out of our way to ensure that every ingredient we use in our signature dishes are locally sourced, USDA Organic, and in season. This extra care is something you won’t find in many San Diego wedding caterers.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of touring the Junípero Serra Museum yet we highly recommend it. It’s a great day trip! It is truly a romantic endeavor. Having your own wedding there is no different. Those historic Spanish walls, and her view are ideal for a celebration of love.
The Junípero Serra Museum, in Presidio Park, is one of the most familiar landmarks in San Diego. As a major symbol of the city, it stands atop the hill recognized as the site where California began. It was here in 1769 that a Spanish Franciscan missionary, Father Junípero Serra, with a group of soldiers led by Gaspar de Portolá, established Alta California’s first mission and presidio (fort).
Often confused for the Mission San Diego de Alcalá, the Serra Museum was built between 1928-1929 for the purpose of housing and showcasing the collection of the San Diego History Center (then the San Diego Historical Society), which was founded in 1928. The structure was designed by architect, William Templeton Johnson, using Spanish Revival architecture, to resemble the early missions that once dominated the landscape of Southern California. ~ sandiegohistory.org/serra_museum.
