San Diego, California – Eco Caters is passionate about sustainable food, supporting our local community, and educating others about the importance of an organic lifestyle. We do more than slap the words “organic” on the food we cook. We are very proud to engage collaboratively, and mindfully, with local partners who impact our community on many levels.
San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project is one of the many organizations Eco Caters is proud to work with. This local non-profit buys land, organizes sustainable community gardens, sells organic produce to local restaurants, and converts one family after another, into urban farmers.
What is the mission of the San Diego Roots Sustainable Food Project?
The project is “a network of citizens, farmers, chefs, gardeners, teachers, and students working to encourage the growth and consumption of regional food. From farm to fork, we focus awareness and work toward a more ecologically sound, economically viable and socially just food system in San Diego.
By eating locally, not only do you get fresher, better-tasting food, but you also help support family farms and encourage a vibrant local economy.” ~http://www.sandiegoroots.org/history.php
Here’s a great video showing the impact of the organization:
For many years, Eco Caters has been purchasing organic produce from their urban farms and preparing it for our clients’. We put our money where our mouths are because we are passionate about contributing, promoting, and educating our neighbors about the importance of a sustainable living.
