Unique Seafood Recipe Ideas

There are a ton of easy seafood recipe ideas floating around the Internet. So many that it can be hard to narrow down good, healthy recipes that taste amazing. We decided to narrow down the list for you, with a few nods to some delicious seafood recipes we can’t recommend highly enough. Try one of these dishes paired with organic seafood and prepare to be flummoxed. Yes, we said it.

We’ll start with a couple of healthy seafood lunch recipes. Most folks like to eat light at lunchtime and seafood makes eating light and healthy pretty easy.

Southwestern Shrimp Taco Salad

Everyone likes tacos, right? Even if you’re not a big taco fan, this is a great seafood recipe to try with a little southwestern flavor due to ingredients like cilantro, black beans, green onion, corn, and chipotle hot sauce. Throw those goodies on a bed of your favorite kind of lettuce, add some colorful tortilla chips, and toss in a couple wedges of lime for garnish. You can also add other ingredients if you like, such as sour cream and cheese. The sky’s the limit, so experiment. Just don’t forget the shrimp!

Fish Tacos

Speaking of tacos, another great lunch idea is fish tacos. Fish tacos are delicious, and you can dress them up any way you want. You can make fish tacos with grilled fish or fried fish and use just about any type of fish you prefer. White fish is a good bet, such as cod if you plan on frying. If you like grilled fish, Mahi and swordfish can be good ones to try, or blackened salmon. You can use shredded cabbage to stuff them with and top them with some homemade Pico or a sweet mango salsa. You could even go in a more southwest direction and use a flavorful chipotle lime dip as dressing and garnish with a bit of sweet corn and black beans on the side.

Also, be sure to check the type of fish you’re buying to ensure it meets your sustainability standards. Learn more in our related blog posts about sustainable fish farming and read about wild caught vs farm raised fish.

When lunch has come and gone and you’re looking for some healthy seafood dinner recipes, why not try one of these?

Tuna Noodle Casserole

Talk about comfort food. Also great for those days you need to carb load after a tough workout. You can use fresh or canned tuna, whatever suits your preferences, along with frozen vegetables to make life super simple. No-yolk egg noodles make a great option for the seafood pasta, and season to suit your taste buds. We recommend using plenty of cheese and either chicken broth or a creamy mushroom soup base for maximum consistency and flavor. You can top this pasta casserole with crunchy bread crumbs and extra cheese once you’ve got it all blended and ready for the oven.

The nice thing about salmon is that it’s very versatile. And glazes make all the difference. You can make this dish using a teriyaki glaze for a bit of a sweet Asian flavor. Or you can try a homemade orange maple glaze if you’re not a fan of teriyaki. You could try a honey garlic glaze, or a bourbon glaze, or even a brown sugar or honey mustard glaze. Glazed salmon goes well with side dishes like white rice, quinoa, salad, or simple veggies like broccoli or asparagus. Glazed salmon is easy to make and tastes delish no matter what direction you go in.

Asian Salmon Burgers

Speaking of salmon. Didn’t we mention it’s versatile? You can also make Asian salmon burgers for a meal that’s both filling and good for you. Toasted sesame oil, freshly minced ginger, cilantro, hoisin sauce, and avocado are what give these fish burgers their Asian flair and flavor. You can also season liberally with salt and pepper to suit your taste buds. Use mashed avocado for extra topping and serve on your favorite bun or on a large lettuce leaf if you’re limiting your carb intake. You can also top with extras like more hoisin sauce and sliced tomato. There is no right or wrong way to make a burger, at least in our humble opinion.

But what about those of you that are too busy to cook most days? Here are a couple of healthy seafood slow cooker recipes to try. They are no muss, no fuss, and require very little time in the kitchen.

Seafood Stew

We happen to think soups and stews are great when made in the crockpot. So why not start with a hearty seafood stew? You can use shrimp in it, scallops, and even toss in fish, lobster, or crab meat. It’s seafood stew after all. Toss in veggies like cut potatoes and crushed tomatoes, along with all your favorite seasonings for loads of flavor and texture. If you want to lower the carb count, you can replace potatoes with rutabagas and get the same potato texture. Other veggies you might add include onion and celery. Stews tend to be comprised of “everything but the kitchen sink” so you can’t really go wrong here. Use whatever you’ve got and load it with seasonings. Then you can simply set and forget until it’s time to eat.

Lobster Dip

If you need something to take to an event and feed a crowd, why not try a creamy lobster dip? You can make it chopped and shredded lobster meat, along with cream cheese, butter, and cream of shrimp soup. Sherry and cream add even more smooth creaminess, and season with whatever seasonings you like best. This dip is great served with Hawaiian bread, pita chips, or any type of crusty bread you prefer. Heck, you could even serve it with Tostito chips if you really wanted. We won’t tell if you won’t.

Crockpot Paella

Seafood paella is a Spanish staple. It’s loaded with flavor and packed with protein, and when you can make it in the crockpot, it’s even more delicious. You can use shrimp and mussels, as well as meats like chicken and Spanish sausage. Try it with white rice or yellow rice and use veggies like frozen peas and diced tomato and onion. Seasonings like garlic, salt, paprika, and turmeric give paella its distinct flavor. The most effort to be made with this set-and-forget meal is browning the sausage before you add it in with everything else. It really can’t be any easier to make a such a healthy and filling seafood meal.

As you can see, there is an abundance of unique seafood recipe ideas. Some may be a little healthier than others, but hey… it’s seafood. What can go wrong? Check out more recipes like Eco Caters’ Top Seller: Seafood Sausage and more!
